Our policy agenda has been developed by young people in TREEage, in partnership with community organizations and leaders. We are committed to transforming our values and organizing energy into tangible, transformative action to halt the climate crisis with an equitable Green New Deal, and we have dedicated resources to policy development and won a seat at the table in developing bold policy agendas.
With around 315,000 people, it was the largest youth climate strike to date. After the tremendous event, we knew that we wanted to go beyond striking, that to make an impact we had to gain political power in NYC and start impacting policy.
We started campaigns with specific demands for City Hall, working closely with the NYC Office of Sustainability.
We played a crucial role in the unveiling of their executive order on stopping fossil fuels.

MOBIL IZING THE YOUTH OF NYC
We mobilized thousands of people to act online for Earth Day 2020, calling upon our NYC elected officials to pass climate action policies – we even hosted a panel with John Kerry.
In 2020, we endorsed a powerful slate of three candidates, all of whom won their respective races. We’ve now started endorsing City Council candidates for the 2021 elections, phone-banking and fundraising to put those who prioritize climate justice in power.

We have now spread across all 5 boroughs and even New Jersey with our student Hive Leaders! Hive members work within their neighborhoods, striving for climate justice throughout our city.
